About Me

“The past can hurt. But the way I see it, you can either run from it, or learn from it.”
Rafiki, The Lion King

To begin with, my name is Vanessa Chiprez Meza. I really don't mind being called by my first or last name as long as people pronounce it correctly. I am 13 years old and in my family, I am the second youngest, since I have 4 brothers, 3 whom are older. I have various interests and activities I enjoy doing. For instance, I run cross country and track and I like to draw or paint animals (except any rodents). Not only that but I play the violin, piano, and some bass guitar, climb trees, and collect seashells whenever I visit the beach. Furthermore, I enjoy to scrapbook and do archery. When I am older, I would like to attend Stanford University in order to become a psychiatrist. But for now, I would like to make my 8th grade year a great one.

Thank You Mendez
5/16/2018

It's been an amazing three years, probably the best of my life so far. And I must say that these years have been pretty challenging as well. I recall a teacher of mine once said that 6th grade was going to be very difficult in terms of getting used to this new environment, 7th grade was going to be a breeze, yet 8th grade was going to be the most demanding year out of them all. For the most part- she was fairly correct. All my teachers have put in an extraordinary amount of work to teach us multiple things that have helped me become a better reader, writer, mathematician, etc. Even Mr. Axtell's constant life lessons have helped me out along the way to become a wiser person. Even so, all the projects, essays, and tests I have completed throughout these years have helped me gain all the knowledge I will need in high school in order to succeed. I have met so many wonderful people here at Mendez and it is just very poignant and emotional to part ways as we may never see each other again. Yet, I will never forget all the memories we have made here such as the working during those stressing times of GATE Symposium, or engaging in an aggressive snow ball fight at Riley's Farm, or running in the sweltering heat during cross country and track and field. As we now enter high school, it is time for us to start brand new and go through most of the same experiences we dealt with in 6th grade, though we will now be more prepared than we were before from the things we have learned here at Mendez. It is difficult to leave everything we gained at Mendez, but overall I am glad for the new situations we will soon experience in high school.
